Browns Foundation recognized with Allan Krulak Golden Shoe Award

The Browns were recognized Wednesday night for their efforts in the community. The team was given the 2016 Allan Krulak Golden Shoe Award for its efforts to provide Cleveland school children with clothes and uniforms. The Browns partnered with Shoes and Clothes for Kids (SC4K) and Cleveland schools in what the team's foundation called the Special Teams Package. The effort was part of the school's district effort to get kids to school. In working with the school district and SC4K, the Browns foundation is trying to help eliminate the attendance barrier for kids who did not have the appropriate or fitted clothing. The effort included a $100,000 grant that helped provide clothes for 2,000 kids. Photos of the Browns with some of the children were on the team's website. Past winners of the Golden Shoe Award, presented locally in Cleveland, have been Cleveland Mayor Frank Jackson and former Ohio Senator George Voinovich. Under owners Jimmy and Dee Haslam, the Browns foundation has focused its efforts on educational programs in the Cleveland area.
