Newcomers Academy Winter Wonderland Event
SC4K was invited to be a part of WKYC's Winter Wonderland holiday event for students on Thursday, December 18, 2024. With funder and partner Community West, SC4K volunteers and staff were on hand to distribute new boots, gloves, hats, and socks to all 750 students. These students hail from all over the globe as this CMSD school focuses on teaching English as a second language to immigrants, refugees, and non-English speakers! The students participated in fun activities all day, visited with Santa Claus, and especially enjoyed posing with SC4K's big backpack and big shoe photo booth props! Thanks to all of the partners and volunteers who made this special event - and SC4K's largest one-day distribution to date - possible!
Newton D. Baker School of Arts Holiday Event
Newton D. Baker School of Arts scholars stopped by Cleveland Metropolitan School District headquarters on Wednesday, December 18 for a festive day filled with warmth, laughter, and generosity!
CMSD's Customer Experience Team, in partnership with the Cleveland Public Library, treated scholars to hot chocolate, cookies, and a fun activity of creating gingerbread ornaments.
CMSD CEO Dr. Morgan joined the festive fun with a special storytime! One thoughtful scholar even gave her ornament to him as a heartfelt gift.
The magic didn't stop there! Thanks to Shoes and Clothes for Kids, every scholar received new winter coats, boots, gloves, socks, and hats!

2024 SC4K STEM-Themed Teacher Shop
On Saturday, November 8, 2024, SC4K hosted our first STEM-Themed Teacher Shop, sponsored by Lubrizol. Over 80 teachers shopped for supplies and resources to help them focus on STEM projects. From rubber bands and craft sticks, to STEM Kits and STEM toys, teachers were so excited about the variety of learning tools available. Volunteers from Lubrizol were on hand to help teachers shop and check out. Two teachers hosted demo tables to show fellow teachers what they can do to make STEM learning fun and engaging. We are really looking forward to continuing this program with the help of generous program sponsors like Lubrizol.
WWE Community Champions Backpack Build and Distribution
SC4K was honored to be named one of three WWE Community Champions Showcase Partners leading up to the SummerSlam event in Cleveland on August 4, 2024. In preparation for the event, WWE Superstar "Big E" stopped by to help assemble backpacks for local students in need.
Volunteers on the 40-foot backpack assembly line included individuals from the Cleveland Browns, SC4K Board of Directors and Associate Board, and Help 2 Others Camp students working in unison.
Stuffed backpacks were immediately distributed to over 100 local students from four SC4K Distribution Partner Organizations –Boys and Girls Club-King Kennedy Club, Lexington Bell Community Center, Friendly Inn, East End Neighborhood House. Students loved posting for photos with Big E and the Commemorative Belt that was presented to the organization. Beloved Cleveland Browns Mascot, Chomps, was also a big hit! Thank you to everyone who made this day a great success.
2024 Fox 8 Stuff the Bus to benefit SC4K
The 18th Annual Fox 8 Stuff the Bus took place on Friday, July 26th. Over 10 busses were filled with new school supply donations from viewers and sponsors!
Over 100 volunteers were ready at Shoes and Clothes for Kids to "unstuff" the bus, sort, and count donations, and stock the shelves of the SC4K Free Store.
Thank you to all of the volunteers and donors who helped us exceed our goals this year!
