New SC4K Website Delivers Improved User Experience and Brand Vision

SC4K launched an all-new website on Tuesday, January 21, 2025! We partnered with two local design firms — Blue Robot and TayDesigns — to create a comprehensive, updated online presence that offers enhanced ways to learn about, connect with, and support SC4K.

Collaborative Development Process Prioritizes User Experience and Accessibility
Drawing inspiration from other nonprofits and Teacher Resource Centers similar to SC4K, our internal team began laying the groundwork for the re-design in late 2023. Many months of work ensued to gain input from users, gather images, and craft content to better tell the story of SC4K. Our website developers were with us every step of the way, responding to our wants and wish list with innovative suggestions. Finally, a beta testing group of SC4K partners, teachers, board members, and volunteers thoroughly reviewed our site before our launch to provide feedback and suggestions.

Our new site is fully responsive, providing a seamless experience for users on various devices, and it follows web accessibility guidelines to make the content available to as many people as possible.

Fresh Visual Identity and Messaging Reflect SC4K’s Growth
In May of 2024, SC4K revealed an updated logo and new branding which is reinforced on the new site through its engaging design elements. These include a new horizontal logo, an expanded color palette, and photos that draw the viewer into the heart of what we do and who we serve. We have also refined our messaging, expressing our unique identity and why the way we operate sets us apart from other organizations.

Enhanced Features to Engage with Supporters in New Ways
Making the website more intuitive and accessible for parents, teachers, ambassadors, volunteers, and donors was a key priority as was adding features to engage our community, including:

• Real-time program outputs to demonstrate our community impact
• An interactive Distribution Partner map to help families access services faster
• An easy-to-use editor for the internal team to ensure dynamic and timely sharing of our message, mission, and events
• Pop-ups for sharing important announcements, updates, and store closures
• Integrated, one-step forms to facilitate newsletter signups, service requests, and volunteer registration
• An improved search function to quickly find information and resources on the site

• Our Staff page features headshots of each of our team members. Clicking on each person’s photo reveals their “first day of school” picture and a closer look at who they are personally.
• Our new blog is where we will share the latest stories and happenings.
• Spotlights on Volunteers, Collection Drive Hosts, and
• A robust Media Kit section is where those sharing our message have immediate access to our logos and new brand guideline
• Increased use of embedded Flickr albums and YouTube videos to present an up-to-date, visually compelling picture of how SC4K breaks barriers every day.
