How SC4K Helps Families in Need
Shoes and Clothes for Kids provides shoes, clothes, and school supplies to income-eligible families who live in Cuyahoga County through two programs: Our Legacy Program (Distribution Partner Network) and our new Direct Service Program (at the Community Resource Center).
We serve school-aged children (pre-K through Grade 12).
Distribution Partner Network
SC4K partners with community centers, churches, and outreach programs in the neighborhoods where the need is the greatest. We provide items to these Distribution Partners multiple times each year.
Visit our Distribution Center map below to locate the Distribution Partner in your neighborhood and then contact them to receive information about their distribution process.
Distribution Partner Program
SC4K currently partners with 21 social service agencies to distribute items to families in need. SC4K does not charge its partner organizations or the families who receive new items and relies on the generous support of our community to provide this valuable service to struggling families.
Beyond serving the basic needs of thousands of deserving children, SC4K serves as a change agent for area families living in poverty. By providing new clothes and shoe shopping passes through our Distribution Partner network, we can connect these families with other important programs and services working to improve and enrich their lives. These programs include food pantries, GED education programs, resale shops.
SC4K works with a network of 24 social service agencies in Greater Cleveland strategically located in Greater Cleveland in communities with the greatest need. Families receive SC4K products directly from our Distribution Partners. Distribution Partners shop for shoes, clothing, and other items, at the SC4K Free Store. Partners also receive shoe passes, so children can choose their own shoes directly from the shelves of a local store retailer.
Partners then meet with families to determine eligibility, schedule distributions at their sites, and distribute our products. The average distribution for clothing is valued at $350,000.00 and the average distribution of shoe passes is valued at approximately $26,000.00.
One of the advantages of using our Distribution Partner Network for families is access to a wide variety of wrap-around services and programs close to home. Families may initially visit a distribution partner for help with shoes and clothes for their children, but end up participating in other programs that address the wide range of physical, economic, and socioemotional needs that families have, including GED education programs, job search and placement programs, childcare, health care, and more.
