Legacy Program
Legacy Program
Shoes and Clothes for Kids works through a network of 21 distribution partners that are like-minded organizations providing wrap-around services within communities across greater Cleveland. Our partners receive shoes, clothes, and school supplies through several distributions from SC4K during the year. They then provide these items to those they serve.
Distribution Partners shop in the SC4K Free Store multiple times per year, choosing shoes, clothes, school supplies, and other items (such as books, office supplies, and cleaning supplies) choosing the items that they need for the families they serve. Our partners store the items they receive for distribution to the families they pre-qualify.
We also provide our partners with shoe gift passes to give to their families, which allows children and their parents to choose the size and style of shoes they need at a local retailer. The average shopping visit provides each partner with new items valued at $19,030.
DID YOU KNOW? We call our longest-running initiative our "Legacy Program" because it served as our organization's cornerstone for many years, laying the foundation for all our subsequent programs and establishing our reputation in the community.
SC4K works with a network of 24 social service agencies in Greater Cleveland strategically located in Greater Cleveland in communities with the greatest need. Families receive SC4K products directly from our Distribution Partners. Distribution Partners shop for shoes, clothing, and other items, at the SC4K Free Store. Partners also receive shoe passes, so children can choose their own shoes directly from the shelves of a local store retailer.
Partners then meet with families to determine eligibility, schedule distributions at their sites, and distribute our products. The average distribution for clothing is valued at $350,000.00 and the average distribution of shoe passes is valued at approximately $26,000.00.
One of the advantages of using our Distribution Partner Network for families is access to a wide variety of wrap-around services and programs close to home. Families may initially visit a distribution partner for help with shoes and clothes for their children, but end up participating in other programs that address the wide range of physical, economic, and socioemotional needs that families have, including GED education programs, job search and placement programs, childcare, health care, and more.
