Grand Opening Showed SC4K Supporters “What New Can Do”

The first half of 2024 has been busy, in a good way, fueled by our relocation to the Community Resource Center (CRC) in early . Our move symbolizes growth and progress and represents our commitment to breaking barriers to education by providing new shoes, clothes, and school supplies to students in need.

On Monday, May 6th, we invited community members and supporters to see “What New Can Do” with a Grand Opening and ribbon-cutting. In addition to special recognition of SC4K supporters, the program featured additional remarks from Kelly Rudloff, SC4K Board Chair, Kristin Warzocha, Greater Cleveland Food Bank President and CEO, and Tom Gill, Urban Community School President. Associate Board Member Melissa Brown shared closing remarks and coordinated the ribbon-cutting.

The event concluded with tours of the SC4K space and the Community Resource Center, and attendees received lunch to go, generously provided by Aramark Sports + Entertainment.

This special day celebrated the partners who made this move possible and reminded us why we do this important work: To affirm the dignity of students in need.

Our beautiful, new home, reflective of that dignity, is the perfect place for our staff and volunteers to make our founders proud by continuing the work that began 55 years ago, from the trunk of Morrie Sayre’s car.

The community’s unwavering support has been instrumental in our success. I am grateful for all the ways you “step up” and we look forward to welcoming everyone to our new space any time.
